Accommodation
Film Academy of Miroslav Ondricek doesn´t have it´s own dormitories. However, there are many possibilities to rent a shared appartment. Also there are a possibility to stay in private Halls of residents.
The average rental fee per month is from 2000 CZK (app. 70 euro) to 4000 CZK (app. 140 euro). The final amount depends on how many students are sharing the appartment. FAMO is ready to help international students with searching appartment or room before their arrival.

Eating
There are many places in Písek, where you can eat tasty, healthy and cheap. There are restaurants with typical Czech cuisine, vegetarian dinig rooms, pizzerias etc. Many of them are offering the daily menu for 70 – 90 CZK (2 – 3 euro). For buying stuff for home-cooking there are supermarkets, even discounts like Lidl and others. For food and eating you should spend max. 3500 CZK per month (app. 130 euro).
Traveling
How to get to Písek?
Písek is quite easily reached from capital city of Czech Republic, Prague. It is 100 km, app. 1 and half hour. The fastest and cheapest way is to take a bus of the private traffic company Student Agency. With internet reservation, what we recommend you, you pay 110 CZK (app. 3,50 euro). Reservation and schedule you find on their website
There are also another bus traffic companies, which can tak you to Písek. The price is not much higher. They are very frequent, the journey takes app. 2 hours. The schedule and information about prices you can find on their website
Of course there is also possible to take a train from the Prague Central Railway Station. There is good and frequent straight train connection between Prague and Písek. It is a bit longer though than by bus, app. 2 hours and also more expensive (app. 160 CZK).
City Traffic In Písek you can use a local buses for the 15 CZK for a one route ticket. It is also possible to arrange a credit electronic ticket with minimum credit of 50 CZK. But as Písek isn´t large city, you can reach all the necessar points in the center by foot.
FAMO celebrated 25.anniversary of ERASMUS
10. and 11.5.2012 FAMO celebrated the 25.anniversary of the EU program of student exchanges Erasmus. Besides presentation meeting and informations about this program and his history at FAMO there were also FAMO students awarded for best photographs from their Erasmus exchanges.

FAMO students awarded at 11. International Student Film Festival Písek 2011
6.-9.10. Písek hosted the 11. International Student Film Festival Písek 2011, where FAMO students were extremely succesful. Our students Jan Vejnar, Jiří Sádek and Katarína Dedičová won five awards for their school movies. Jan Vejnar with his wonderful "Automatic for the People" won the Grand Prix and it is another triumph for him from another international competition. Congratulations to all!

Czech Lion for chief of Film edit department
Alois Fišárek, the Head of FAMO film edit department was awarded with prestigeous Czech film award called „Czech Lion“ which was held in the beginning of March 2011 in Prague. Mr. Fišárek, long-time collaborator of director Jan Svěrák and editor of Academy award winner, the movie „Kolja“, was awarded for his editing of the new Svěrák´s movie, original family movie „Kuky se vrací“.

Antonio Riestra was awarded for Best Cinematography
One of our longtime special IFS tutor, the Mexican cinematographer Antonio Riestra, was awarded just a few weeks ago with one of the most prestigeous European film award, Spanish award Goya. He was awarded for the Best cinematography of the highly acclaimed Spanish/Catalan drama called "Pa Negre" by director Augustí Villaronga.

„Automatic for the People“ on the representative DVD with Best Czech Short Films Jan Vejnar and his movie „Automatic for the People“ was embedded in the menu of DVD Czech Short Films, released by Czech Film Centre. The representative DVD with choice of 15 short films, chosen by jury of film specialists, will be offered to more than 50 international film festivals and to film proffesionals over the world.

Our students collaborates with Czech Television Three students of FAMO, Martin Kopp, Jan Chramosta and Vojtěch Moravec, shot for Czech Television TV adaptations of three detective tales, written by famous Czech classic writer Karel Capek. It is the unique opportunity, given by big broadcasting company to young filmmakers.
